I’m a sucker for many things, but particularly: some sort of overarching game that the characters participate in, copious amounts of banter, and a fmc that doesn’t annoy me

I heard this book is very YA compared to ACOTAR, so I went into this book being fully aware of that. My friends told me SJM was young when she wrote this book, and I can definitely tell.

•Was the story good? Yes.
•Predictable? Yes.
•Was the romance good? IMO, no. However, I am comparing it to ACOTAR (which isn’t fair). The romance in this book was very juvenile, but I have to remember they’re teenagers and are juveniles themselves. So technically the romance is an accurate depiction of how 16-19 year olds act. I didn’t feel the connection between the weird love triangle. Just a bunch of hormonal teenagers trapped in a castle.
•Was the world building good? Yes. It’s not overly confusing and I followed along very easily.

I’m excited to see where this story goes. I was told to plow through the first couple books in this series because TOG sets up a lot for the series. We shall seeeeeee!

Throne of Glass - Sarah J. Maas -  4.25 Stars

I did expect to like this book honestly, because one of my favourite people on the entire earth really likes this series. Once again, her suggestion did not disappoint. (Shoutout to Liz <3)
Honestly? I was scared to start this one and it took me like.. over a month to finish it?

Well, that’s because I had a hard time getting into this book, not because it was uninteresting or anything. The perspective. I am usually a first person kind of girl, but I am getting used to it.

So, let’s start with my thoughts on this book.
It was a wild ride, my emotions were sometimes… kind of all over the place?
I was STRESSED as hell, confused as hell, intrigued as hell. So that’s a good sign for sure.

“Oh, it’d be nice to see his blood spill across the marble.” (p. 9)
And that’s the moment I fell in love with Celaena (god, I have such a hard time with her name xD)

I really liked the characters. Dorian, Chaol, Nehemia and of course Celaena. But also Philippa tbh.
Sometimes some of them were almost an comedic duo, I won’t say who. But you can guess.

‘’I give you this name to use with honour, to use when the other names grow too heavy.’’ (P. 324)

‘’Blood ties can’t be broken.’’ (P. 401)

Reread Value
4/5
