felt like i had to race to the finish line just to get this over with.
i think there were way too many characters, although i did see the author's intention of choosing to do so. their stories, their lives, however seemingly dispersed and separated, are all connected to one another by the thread of their history as a people.
even though i struggled getting through with this because of its structure and the way it was written, the culminating event (the ending) was peak American - what with the shooting and all. but it was so sad when that it was by their own hands, ending up (quite literally) pointing their guns to each other and causing their own demise.
also loved opal and jacquie's characters in here. i wish the author just focused on their story instead.
