healer and witch is a book that follows sylvie, a girl gifted with magic powers, as are her mother and grandmother. confused about how to harness and best use her powers, sylvie goes on a journey to find herself a mentor, somebody to teach her more. since i enjoy historical fiction, i expected to like this, and it did not disappoint. sylvie's journey of self-discovery was touching to read. sylvie learns how to make decisions that she really believes in, she learns who to trust, she finds love, and she accepts herself and her powers in a world that isn't fond of witches. the writing was lovely and the plot and storytelling were compelling. sylvie is an adorable character and i think kids would really enjoy this, as did i. it was a quick and cute read for sure.

This was a cute book. I enjoyed the storyline, and the characters were sweet. I felt like it could be longer for how expensive it was, but I did like the twist that Cecelline was the other lady (somehow I already forgot her name). Overall, a sweet book that could be nice to reread.

Recommended by my friend Brooke. It reminded me a lot of T Kingfisher’s A Wizard’s Guide to Defensive Baking, although this one is more of a historical fantasy. I really liked the character development, but some of the last reveals fell a little flat. Also. The heroine needed to be a little older for me to be cheering on a romance with a 24 year old.

I thought this was a beautiful story. I loved the personal growth she gained on her journey.
