dark tense
I physically recoiled at least fifteen times. This was not my genre but a book club pick and I personally did not have a good time.

tw: graphic rape, murder, suicide, graphic torture, drug addiction

I’ve never seen marital infidelity be so innocuous. I guess that’s just relative to stalking, rape, torture, murder, and human trafficking. This book is pretty dark. The darkness brought out a very specific and personal darkness in the protagonists, which made them compelling and believable. This is a great read but it is the antithesis of enjoyable or relaxing. I’m glad I read it but I’m also relieved to be done reading it.

Be aware, TW//graphic sexual violence, torture, murder

It's definitely a thriller!!! Really enjoyed the story and the twists and turns.

Didn't enjoy the gore. There was lots of descriptive narrative that I'd like yo have never read...

There is a lot of gory detail in this book, yes. Like. A lot. But the chapters just went on and on and on. It was just too much. Too much trauma, too much gore, too many words. I couldn’t bring myself to keep going so I googled the ending.

The subject matter of this book was very disturbing. Check your trigger warnings for everything, but it was still very good. It was predictable, but intriguing and the writing was good. I loved the ending. This is a rare instance where I really hope they do NOT make this a movie. The visuals would be too awful.
