Another read from a new author. And it definitely didn’t disappoint! I was abit worried as this was the third book in the series, but it could have been a standalone book. The book alternated between the present with POVs from Detective Stephanie king and Nancy, and then the past pov from Nancy, which helped link everything together. At first I didn’t understand the significance or reason behind the in-depth POVs from Detective King but then it all started to make sense.

This was a fast paced read that kept me engaged throughout, the plot was exciting and did get quite dark in some places. The chapters were also not too long which made it easier to read. There were so many twists throughout the book and I was not expecting the twists at the end, I was shocked! I thought the characters were pretty solid and interesting, and I loved the setting of the book being in Cornwall.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this book more than I expected to, and I’ll be looking into Rachel Abbotts other books.

I enjoy reading his author's stories. This book was set in Cornwall with DS Stephanie King investigating some old bones in a cave and also an old missing girl cold case.
I enjoyed this story.

I really enjoyed this book! I didn't expect the ending and the characters are well written. There were a lot of twists and turns in the book and it is a very well crafted mystery. There were some genuinely creepy and unnerving moments in this book which is my favorite thing about it. I got really invested in the characters because of how well they are written! I will definitely be checking out more books from Rachel Abbott. I would recommend this book to those who enjoy thrillers or mysteries. Special Thank You to Rachel Abbott, Bookourture, and NetGalley for allowing me to read a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

3.5 stars rounded down. I love Rachel Abbott's books but unfortunately this one was not a favorite. It was so slow in the beginning and there were too many unnecessary flashbacks in my opinion. The last third or so was much better and there were some unexpected twists. I think this book would be a lot better if there was less filler in the beginning, and the pace was a little faster. I'm sorry that this one didn't quite work for me, but Rachel Abbott is still one of my favorite authors and I can't wait for her next book.

Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for the ARC.
