DNF

I did not like the writing style and the coin flipping thing was annoying.

I didn't exactly enjoy this book, but it was a good companion for thinking through my thoughts around having children.

Likes:
  • Felt very relatable to some of the thoughts and questions I have myself as someone that doesn’t want kids but wanted kids at one point
  • Very intrigued by the concept of I-Ching and loved how that was woven into the story.
  • I also liked the connection between her and her maternal grandmother that she never met. It reminds me of how when our mother was carried in her mother’s womb she also carries all the cells that will become her future children (probably butchering this beautiful scientific phenomenon). But all that to say there’s a special genetic connection carried down maternally.

Dislikes:
  • At times the story felt a bit slow or monotonous, the constant questioning was also overwhelming at times. Felt like I was going through an existential crisis. Is there a point where you can be too far into your own mind?
