It only took me one day to read it, but I procrastinated in starting. It was a great introduction to some of the seamier people in U.S. history, but the last chapters focused on the modern Republicans. I liked the book, but I really wished they'd have stayed with the historical approach, maybe stopping with Gingrich, who was the Speaker of the House in the 1990s. Reagan and Gingrich were the real progenitors of the modern GOP. What we have now is a logical extension of their policies. Then again, someone who is tired of hearing about Trump probably shouldn't have picked up a book with "Dumpty" in the title, especially one written by the brilliant John Lithgow.

John Lithgow is clever as always. I was a bit disappointed in the lack of diversity all around - most of the villains seemed to be white men from the east coast. There are many more men and women around the nation throughout history, I would have liked to have seen more representation of villains.
