I am honestly struggling to find the right words to express what it was like to read Orbiting Jupiter. While dealing with sensitive topics including abuse, mental health, foster care, teen pregnancy and poverty, this book tells a beautifully raw and compelling story from the perspective of a 12-year-old. There was so much in less than 100 pages, and yet it did not feel rushed or busy. It just felt real and moved me in so many ways.

Small book, huge impact.
I read this book in less than two hours in the middle of the night (Jetlag) and thoroughly enjoyed it. Will devour this book again and again.
You know, you kinda know what’s coming in the end. Still, I was not prepared. Definitely needed a good cry.
What I especially admire about this book it that it acknowledges issues and still forgives. The past is the past. Second chances exist and people can heal.

In less than 200 pages this story of a family opening their home to a boy with so much pain in his past, absolutely shattered me. The prose are simple, but so eloquent and paint such a beautiful picture of hope that never seems to come to fruition.

The end destroyed me and I finished it at work on my break no less, so that was rough !!

- This is the kind of book that you start off knowing that you would enjoy it. It is a very easy read, and I enjoy being able to digest through the contents fairly quickly. The book had interesting characters and the story overall was engaging.

I like that despite the main topic being teen pregnancy and loss, Schidt also touches on issues such as bullying and discrimination faced by "troubled" kids.

This is perfect if you're in the mood for a light cry, and would prefer a quick read.
