Atwood did it first and best, but Erdrich's contemporary update of a reproductive dystopia run under the veneer of religious fervor is equally chilling and a little more realistic.

I just couldn't quite get into this. It's not very often that I get as far through a book as I did with this (3/4) and put it down but unfortunately I did with this one. This particular book just wasn't for me.

This felt like a cross between Atwood and Vonnegut (Oryx and Crake meets Galapagos). It was weird and I can't explain why I liked it.

More of a 3.5/5. I loved the world-building, but I wish there had been more to the book. For once I'm wishing an author had indulged a bit and written more.

Sure, why not read about another reproductive/climate dystopia. Slow first half, rip roaring white knuckler of a second half. Definitely some hokey bits but not NOT worth reading.

This was an interesting read because I felt polarized by it. I was either enthralled or completely zoning out through the book.
