Wasn’t really a happy book. Especially the middle part felt like it dragged.

I had almost forgotten how much I love the Caster world, the Southern essence of the dialogues, the characters carved to life. How dusty winter days spent in my hight school art class were like a replica of Gatlin.
I think I don't even know how much the Caster world influenced the way I saw my surroundings in high school.
I used to pretend I was a part of it. And now, it was good to be back for a while.

Between Ethan and Lena, Ethan is much less boring as a character. This makes half the book that much easier to read, because Lena doesn't appear. The other half was excruciating (sorry, but it's the truth)
In regards of the writing, EVERY sentence that starts with "I asked myself..." is completely unnecessary and just repeats something previously stated - this is a problem throughout the series, to be honest
Nevertheless, this book beats the third one (beautiful chaos) by miles

I feel like considering all of the trial that they went through in books 1-3, everything that happened in this book felt like “really? It was that easy all along?”

A fitting end to a wonderful series. But I hope we hear from Ethan and Lena in the future.
