killed me. the yearning is absolutely insane. don't know how historically accurate it is, but god i loved the dynamic between achilles and patroclus so much. so poetically wonderful

Prachtig einde

DNF @ p. 175. wasn’t bad at all just not my fav genre. a lil slow. maybe i’ll finish it some day

I absolutely adored the start of the book but it kinda lost me when the war started. I feel like it didn't have to be so long. I know the war was several years but idk I found myself just wanting hector to come and fight already because I was dying from boredom.
I adored the main characters and liked their development although I felt like some of the storyline needed addressing and some of the story kind of fell off at some points.
This book gave me mixed feelings as a whole. I'm not one of those people that care for the accuracy of the characters or gods. I am just here to read a good story. But, it was just ok for me. The start was great, the middle was fine and the ending was ok.
All in all it was fun for a bit and the story made me sad, happy and shocked at some scenes. So I'll give it 3 stars as I'm just unsure. I wouldn't call it an amazing read for myself but others might find the book good. Maybe I'll reread it at some point and like it but for now it's just ok for me.

I wish it was longer so that there is more to enjoy

“In the darkness two shadows reaching through the hopeless, heavy dusk. Their hands meet and light spills in a flood like a hundred golden urns pouring out of the sun.”

This book made me, tore me down and put me back together again. Just beautiful.
