I finished this book at 1 am and had to pace around the room in the dark afterwards because it was that crazy. I will try to make this spoiler-free, also.
I love and I mean LOVE all the characters in this book, James and Violet being my favourites. They're all so interesting and Will is such an unreliable narrator at times and I thought I had guessed part of the twist but boy, was I wrong.
The book starts off pretty slow and it makes you wonder how this story will progress. The worldbuilding is intriguing although not anything new (in terms of light vs dark). It makes you think this will be a typical chosen one story where the MC has to defeat the big bad but then there's this sort of mystery surrounding EVERYTHING. Then, shit starts to go down in the last 3/4 of the book where it's just twist after twist and it's heart-wrenching. I never saw it coming!!
I will never get over how the novel ended (please give me more, I love destroying myself with angst) and I need to read the next book ASAP.
