This book was terrible for the ending alone. I'm all for the unhappy endings and everything, but this was just a terrible read and poorly written. There were too many loose threads at the end that raised too many questions, and not in a good or tasteful way.

The twist ending is what saved this for me. I spent most of it thinking "how is this a new telling of Snow White? Cause the dwarves say the f word?" So while I admit that most of the book did nothing for me (certainly not enough that I'll spend money on the following books) I did appreciate the one truly surprising moment. That's what I get for being enticed by a beautiful cover and the promise of a 'dark' retelling.

" 'Hello again, my darling,' he whispered, tucking a stray strand of hair carefully behind her ear. 'I've missed you.' "

This book was...disturbing. On many levels. I would have considered it to be YA except for the three very pointless, very explicit sex scenes that had no role in the story whatsoever. In fact, many pieces of this story didn't quite fit, and it was like the author was trying to cram as many fairytales as she could think of into one book without making logical sense of any of them. I feel as though everything was left unresolved, so hopefully the next couple of books will be able to clear it up.

I am physically in love with this book. No I'm not joking, the cover for this is stunning and makes for a beautiful addition to my book case.
The story... left me wanting a little bit. I really enjoyed the spin on snow white, but it almost ended too soon. Well - yes and no. I totally understand why it ended where it did, and it was deliciously unexpected.. but it was like a tv show getting cancelled. At the end you're like "YES!" but then you realize there isn't anymore and it's a bit disappointing..
One thing to note too.... THIS IS FOR ADULTS. Do NOT read this to a child.

Nope.

A nice retelling of Snow White but, in the end, I guess it didn't really stand out all that much for me. I actually liked Lilith as a character but Snow White didn't move me all that much and the prince was decidedly creepy. The ending with the mouse and crone wasn't really necessary; unless Hansel and Gretel is going to be the next in this series. Anyway, an entertaining enough read, just quite forgettable, I guess.
