Reread: I LOVE this. My favorite Austen story, and now I need another DVD of it.
I love it. I love it. I love it! My favorite Austen story; about a girl who lets herself be persuaded that her suitor isn't a good idea...then regrets it ever after.

The only second chance romance I can get behind! The story of Anne Elliot and Fredrick Wentworth reconnecting after she ended their engagement 8 years ago is unparalleled. I particularly loved reading this at the same age Anne is (27, such an old maid haha) because her maturity compared to other Austen heroines is so wonderful to read. Being persuaded to do something she regretted and then learning from it gives her tenderness, poise and true understanding in all her self reflection and interactions with the other characters. There is a bitter sweetness to Persuasion that you don’t get in Jane Austen’s other books, but I love it all the more for that.
And will I ever not swoon while reading Captain Wentworth’s letter? Never!

My favorite of Jane Austen's books, I think there's something about the quiet strength of Anne Elliot that just speaks to me. I love watching her come into her own quiet but powerful opinions. She really is a fantastic character. I think I related to her journey of learning to stand up for herself as well. That is something I have struggled with, especially as a child. She and Captain Wentworth are perfect together, and Austen's writing is, as always, absolutely beautiful.
