Fascinating book. Listened to it and was surprised at how enrapt I was throughout. As somebody not well read in "academic" economic theory, I found it very approachable and enlightening.

There was much to take away from this but I found the connection drawn between today's climate crisis and the capitalist forces at work during the transition to steam to be very successful. Refreshingly, Malm does not waste energy demonizing or catastrophizing (easy enough to do yourself given the powerful villainy and enormous stakes described), but he rather seeks to understand the current predicament, with the ultimate goal of escaping it.
