So this is A dark fantasy about the siren with a taste for royal blood and the prince who has sworn to destroy her.
This book had one of the most powerful line to start a book with!!
But it took a road that I didn’t enjoy

I really enjoyed this book. The writing style is beautiful and fun to read. I usually don't like first person but really liked it here.
A dark turn on the little mermaid story. Not so dark that it was scary or graphic. I'd recommend age 14+, nothing bad but several swear words. Really enjoyed it!

I did enjoy this book, I loved the mini quests leading up to the big one it did make it feel like there was more going on. I love the characters of Lira and Elian but the connection and romance of their characters felt a bit forced in places I didn’t fully believe in how their connection developed but it was an enjoyable fantasy adventure read

I really wanted to like this book and finish, but I decided to value my time and enjoyment of things. If I'm not enjoying it enough to want to see the ending, I'm not forcing it. So, yeah. What bothered me the most was how every paragraph felt like it could come straight out of Tumblr with its edginess and overall felt really juvenile, like it was trying to be dark and cool but just failed to be captivating. The characters felt like archetypes and the main characters felt too one dimensional - especially the prince, who was mostly a brat doing whatever he felt like because he has no consequences in life and thinking that is cool ("oh look at me I'm no prince charming cuz I kill sirens how cool is that"); also him calling himself a pirate is so, so cringe.

I always hear people saying this book is over hyped but honestly it’s so good. However the reason it doesn’t get a 5 is it’s like the author was trying to make a slow burn romance and ended up with only a few chapters of space for the actual romance. But other wise just amazing
