oof- here we go.
it wasn’t a bad book, plot wise. i just couldn’t get past the use of greek in such an unprofessional way. It was obviously the writer used some kind of translating machine (kinda felt like google translate) and it all just made reading the book so hard. Some parts were very predictable and the romance felt rushed. Other than that, it was an enjoyable read, but i’m sure the fact that i love pirate stories played a big part in me enjoying the plot. Otherwise i don’t think i would be able to get past all those flaws mentioned above.
If you don’t understand greek, then i’m sure this would be a 3 star read for you (especially if you like pirates).

P.S. Psariin literally means Fish, which really made me question the quality of the book upon reading that this was the Siren Language😭. I could make a whole tedtalk about the misuse of greek in this book, but this is where i’m gonna leave it for now.

This is only my opinion, which is not meant to invalidate other peoples opinions especially if they really enjoyed the book. Remember to have Fun!

This could've been so much more and the ending honestly leaves readers wanting more. The first half was all the world building and Elian's / Lira's backstories. Last half was all the action with an ending that tied together everything way too quickly. It left me a bit confused since the introduction was so long and the ending was so short.

I was pleasantly surprised by a retelling of The Little Mermaid, albeit a far more gory one. I’m a sucker for enemies to lovers, so this was my jam and I loved it.

I 100% recommend this as a fun and feel good fairytale rettelling.

I quite enjoyed this story and it was a relatively easy and quick read. The dual point of view gave the story depth and dimension but I found Lira's point of view lacking sometimes. It left me quite confused as to the placement of the various characters and the setting. I found Elian's point of view to be more thorough and comprehensive and left me less confused as to what was happening during the scene. One thing I thoroughly enjoyed in both their point of views however, is the humour and sarcasm. Elain and Lira's relationship is hilarious and their witty banter is very entertaining.

It was refreshing to see a female character with a troubled past and a redemption arc usually reserved for the male character. Her sense of humour is unique and had me cackling all the time and even her thoughts were sarcastic. She doesn't just spend the entirety of the story admiring Elian, but rather getting to know herself and her humanity and getting to understand the world apart from her mother. I absolutely loved to read about her growth as a leader and her coming to terms with who she is. The romance is adorable but I do feel it was a bit lacking the build-up felt a bit to Disney movieesue, but I guess that is fitting with the theme. However, the build-up took too much time of the story and I would have loved to see more of Lira and Elian together.
#Spoilers
I love it however the ending really brings the story together. Seeing Lira as the Sea Queen is so wonderful. I also love how gender stereotypes were so casually broken in the story like with Elian's sister and Yukiko and Madrid. I absolutely loved Madrid and her personality is so witty and strong. She puts up a strong facade but she would do anything to protect the people she cares about. I also loved her relationship with Kye as well as her friendship with lyra. She's such an inspiring, strong and incredibly witty character. I would have loved to read her point of view maybe (we can get a spin-off with Kye and Madrid written from a dual point of view as well). I also wish we'd gotten to see more of Torik. He was quite enjoyable to read about, but maybe that would be more relevant in a Kye and Madrid Spain off.
