Not really earth shattering for me - all the many viewpoints without actually knowing who the character is tends to get confusing in audio version - not sure if this was clearer in another format. The story was ok but felt like hard work to finish.

This trilogy is just brilliant and I will recommend it to anyone who can read. A fascinating world, deeply human characters, fantastic pacing - just wow what an awesome collection to both take you out of your world as well as point out the injustices in your world. One of my favorite series

Read this book right now. Well start with the 5th season and read the whole trilogy. Each book has consistently blown me away. With it's incredible world building, compelling characters, interesting construction, fascinating and awe-inspiring magic, it's got everything. Modern classics, my new favorite books? I think so. One a side note, between this series and Steven Universe the gemology section of natural history museums have gotten a lot more exciting, look! a syenite, look! a rose quartz, etc. Also I will personally never speak to the nebula awards if they don't recognize what Jemisin has accomplished here.

Alright...this trilogy is AMAZING. And, this third book tied up loose ends very satisfyingly. However, unlike the first two where the story happened in the built world and there was just enough context thrown in to figure it out (really spectacularly talented!), I felt like there was more explaining/telling of the world-building in this one. And, although admittedly the huge finale was going to be....huge, and magic...I enjoyed that less than the intricate, personal, sociological build-up to it of the first two books.
