I enjoyed this way more than I expected to! It was a great fantasy to read while on vacation. Not too much world building which is what I was needing. It was entertaining, sexy and I loveeee a good love triangle. I am obsessed with Blake and can’t wait to see who she chooses in the next book.

I totally had a feeling she was part wolf as well.

I really enjoyed this book. it was fast paced and a fun read. I really wish I knew this wasn’t a standalone before I started it. Now I can’t wait for the next book to come out. To be honest, the plot was kind of obvious and so were the twists that I still thoroughly enjoyed myself.

I think this book was super fun! I find with a lot of fantasies nowadays the writing is really choppy and cringeworthy, but I think this was written decently and the pacing was pretty good! I love the unique Scottish (Irish? I'm not sure sorry lol) take on the wolves, and the MMC is fun and goofy and sweet! I really can't wait to see the way the characters are fleshed out more in book 2, I also like the lack of third act breakup lol, and I think Blake is super interesting as a character too. It was hard to decipher whether he was set up for a second love interest, a villain, or something else; but, I think that's what makes his character very interesting.
I am also excited to see how HIS backstory makes the world-building and lore deeper. Callum is great too, but I really want more from his character and some politics there.
Our FMC is sweet, has strong will, and I think it's cute seeing her grow and branch out from an oppressive societal upbringing.

I think those who love werewolves, fantasy, golden retriever ( dog pun intended?) MMCs, etc. would really enjoy this! It's longish, but really well-paced for the page number and a quick read!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and read it in three days. It is by no means a literary masterpiece, but that is not always the point of reading. I personally read for escapism and that is exactly what this book gave me! Every time I picked this book up, I was completely immersed in the world and did not want to leave! I thought this book was a standalone but upon finishing, it is quite clear that there is much more juicy drama left in this story to deal with. I know it might be wrong of me to say, but I think I like Blake more than the main male character. Don’t get me wrong, I love Callum too. However, it’s just something about a broody, mysterious, and calculated fictional man who is secretly soft for the main female character. I need more Blake in my life STAT!

I was intrigued to read this because I had seen it compared to Outlander (I love the books, they are incredible character work). This is like a fanfiction spin off with werewolf tropes…but everything is really rushed. It’s basically your average romantasy, so if you’re looking for something with depth & thought behind it, this is not for you lol. I found the “you always have a choice” motif ridiculous and un-empathetic. Also having the wolves essentially represent Scottish people is playing into classic stereotypes used historically to oppress them; I found it a bit insensitive and lacking awareness.
