I want to be able to give this 7 stars. Probably the best romantasy I’ve read in years. Pacing was absolutely perfect with not a single lull in the story, I love the tension and the spicy bits weren’t over done, loved the characters. I’m pretty excited about what appears to be a bit of a love triangle coming and can’t decide which side I’d root for if it does because I love them both… I don’t understand how this book isn’t more popular honestly.

Parts of this were predictable but it’s pretty well written and the plot moves along. I find the FMC to be kind of dull but I’m hoping that changes. The MMC is also very simple but I am hoping he’s replaced.
I grabbed this because I was wanting something fantasy and easy after reading a heavy, long book and it did the trick! I was pleasantly surprised and hooked early on. it has some recognizable themes and plot points and I'm curious if that will continue in book two but overall I enjoyed it and have already started the second.

The antagonist in this novel is bound to become your next literary crush. The witty exchanges between Blake and Aurora are hilariously entertaining, while his strategic approach to their interactions will leave you on the edge of your seat, eager to react. Although I found the male main character to be quite affectionate, he often feels overshadowed when he should be taking center stage. Nevertheless, I appreciate how the author skillfully navigates this dynamic. Having had this book on my to-be-read list for quite some time, I regret not diving into it sooner. It’s a story I anticipate revisiting for years to come.

This was fun if predictable. I’ll definitely read the next in the series and would recommend for anyone who likes a healthy dose of romance with their fantasy. It kind of reminded me of the dynamic between the main characters in the Outlander series, and there is also a hint of Rhysand in one of the characters that gets introduced a bit later in the books that will appeal to the ACOTAR fans.
