But this one pissed me off! I hate Abilene for blackmailing them, for drugging embry! Ash made me mad bc yes he’s a dom but he just came off mean at times. But then the end broke my heart when Embry explained why he had to walk away, for the secrets he’s keeping to protect Greer and ash, for the fact that he’s sacrificing his happiness for the two people he loves! This last book better end on a good note or I’ll be real upset.

I like books that are tense, dramatic, dark. But these one, similar but more even than the first, were not enjoyable to me in that way. I felt like we were thrown from one uncomfortable scene or twist to another, only with a few breaks, mostly in smut form.

For all the times that they mention that they are VP, POTUS and FLOTUS I feel like their way of handling the
kidnapping, what came after and everything with Aveline just doesn't make sense. You keep saying that you have to make decisions for the whole country, but don't involve your advisors, the special forces, whatever, in coming up with the right ways of dealing with it? The VP was drugged and raped and we are mad AT HIM?

I came here for the MMF relationship and I am fine with there being issues. That makes sense. But the way they are played up here are.... I don't even know.

And don't even get me started on the Morgen storyline. We knew part of it already. But why, whyyyyy do we need to make it even worse? It's one thing to put us through those scenes in Prague with the reader not knowing who they are, but knowing? And then, the end?

I will probably listen to the last book, because I know in my mind I will go back if I don't know the way the author chose to finish this story. However, I will read some other books first because I need a break from... Whatever emotional clusterfuck mindset this put me in.

This was not the journey for me. I mostly DNF'd, though I did skim the rest. I love angst, but I really found Embry too unlikeable to root for. And tbh, I don't get the appeal of Ash either. American Queen was intriguing but this fell flat for me.
