This graphic memoir was such a wonderful read. I don't know what to say, other than that there were so many situations and thoughts in this that I recognized in one way or another as things I too have experienced. I don't usually get teary eyed when reading, but wow. This is an excellent exception to that.

my review reflects only my personal reading experience (how i felt while reading; how easy or hard it was to get through; whether or not i was in the right headspace for it; etc.) of this book and not necessarily the content

This is a memoir that chronicles Ellie's life, specifically the part associated with the discovery and realization of her sexuality. If there is one thing that I take away from this book, it is how coming out has more to do with an individual rather than the family or friends that they come out to. Ellie has always been different from her friends, and when teenager years came by and everyone was having boyfriends, she felt she needed one to fit in. It was a sea of self-denial, awkward situationships and a need to reclaim who she felt she was and wanted to be.

Sexuality is not often determined by who we fall in love with or when we fall in love with someone, it has more to do with self-realization and self love. I really loved how that was displayed in this book.

This was an absolute joy to read.

Not for me, but good for what it was trying to do.

Reading this and realizing that other women have had the same experiences and thoughts as I have is so enlightening. It feels like a weight has been lifted off of my shoulders, and I feel so light that I could fly.
