Pats maloniausias santykis melancholijos, subtilumo, humoro ir sabaliauskaitiš?kai ilg? sakini?.

“Siekdamas elgtis racionaliai, pastaruosius deš?imt met? Pninas buvo įsiteig?s niekada neprisiminti Miros Beločkinos - ne tod?l, kad jaunatviš?ko meil?s romano, banalaus ir trumpo, atkš«rimas mintyse pats savaime k?l? gr?sm? dvasios ramybei (deja, visas ankstesnes meiles iš?stš«m? valdingi santuokos su Liza prisiminimai), o tod?l, kad, prisipažÄ¯stant sau visai nuoš?irdžiai, jokia s?žin?, tad ir jokia s?mon?, nepaj?gi gyvuoti pasaulyje, kuriame galimi tokie dalykai kaip Miros mirtis.”

I love it when a novelists places with the validity of the Narrator. Whether we can trust the omnipotent voice, and the Bit with the Squirrel is just surreal.

First official vacation book, first recommended to me 20+ years ago by my undergraduate mentor Dr. William Paul when I shared with him that I was seeking an entertaining vacation read. He said why sacrifice substance for entertainment? Pick something that's both. Finally took his advice, and I do not regret it. So much deep satire here of the academic life, accompanied by Nabokov's flair for precisely rendered detail and mighty sentences that agglomerate highly specific lists in vivid sensory detail.

A masterpiece that wears the title very lightly. Stylistically astonishing, wistful and sad, outrageously funny. I loved it.
