From what I understand, this isn't really considered one of Nabokov's best, but since it's my first, I loved it. Such wonderful word play and clever descriptions.

Can't wait to read more.

The sky was dying. He did not believe in an autocratic God. He did believe, dimly, in a democracy of ghosts. The souls of the dead, perhaps, formed committees, and these, in continuous session, attended to the destinies of the quick.

The best, most good-natured campus comedy I have read. I absolutely love this book.

A book that stings more than it tickles. It hits too close to home for a Chinese émigré in the West such as myself, who, despite self-proclaimed pragmatism, can never quite shake off an idealistic indulgence in useless antiquity. I hope I am more worldly than hapless Prof Pnin.

Observational humour at its best.
