Gorgeously written, regularly funny, and surprisingly touching. While it helps make the book what it is, the narration didn’t quite do as much for me as I’d hoped, but it’s done in such style and reveals such a charming character that it was certainly enough. People talk a lot about Pnin as the anti-Humbert, which of course makes sense, but he’s even more than that as his character feels much more vivid and true. Short and sweet so you’ve no excuse not to read it.

If you're an academic, this book is *extremely* funny and oddly fresh, even though it's set in the early 1950s, it's funny in general but the whole odd political-social setting of a big university has a certain timelessness to it.
