Started kinda cringey but relatively okay then became so cringey I almost dnfed but I have a goal do I powered through. Their love didn’t feel romantic it felt icky

great story with lots of bumps in the middle! I usually don't like bumps and I find them annoying but I held out with this story and it was definitely cute.

I didn't feel like he should've ended up with the main love interest but they're nice together, I guess?
emotional funny lighthearted slow-paced

DID NOT FINISH

“I feel something snap and settle in me. It's the last piece of my heart, falling for him without any input from me at all.”

This book! I just, I can’t even explain how much I absolutely adored this gosh darn book! It had everything I love in an MM romance:

Good looking characters: Check

Snarky moments and sarcasm for absolute days: Check

A romance that is a slow burn and enjoyable to read: Check

Enough laugh out loud moments to make me seem slightly nuts: Gigantic Check

It just had everything, and I think I might be in love with this book and I can’t believe it took me this long to read it. (Curse me for thinking it might be one of those over-hyped books because all the hype was totally worth it!)

Dylan is the best assistant to the most hard-ass of a boss, Gabe. After two years of snark and sarcasm, it’s no wonder Dylan wants to kill his boss while simultaneously wanting to shag him. After one chance encounter in a club, Dylan starts to see his cranky boss in a whole new light. A new light that means he wants to sleep with him more than he wants to kill him. The only issue, is that Gabe is still the hard-ass, cold man he was before, or is he really? Does Dylan have the same effect on his boss that his boss has on him? Or is Gabe’s no-commitment rule going to ruin Dylan for any other man?

AHH! So much love for this book!

Gabe was this snarky AF guy who has more rules for a commitment than a Terms and Conditions. There were times I wanted to smack him upside the head for what he was doing to Dylan, but after hearing about his past and his parents’, things started making sense. I loved when he let his walls down, like when he went to Dylan’s family home for Christmas and let himself be vulnerable to Dylan that night he had nightmares. My heart became putty in those final chapters where Gabe let himself show his true emotions. His character just had such growth and development throughout the story that I went from not liking him to becoming totally smitten.

Dylan though, I think I aspire to be him. His sarcasm and no-shit attitude, the way he is himself no matter what other people think and how he knows his worth even when sometimes he might temporarily forget. He is absolutely what I look for in the main character. I loved how you could follow the way his feelings started developing and changing towards Gabe, and where you could pinpoint where his emotions regarding his snarky boss turned more caring than murderous. The laugh out loud moments this character inspired was honest to God refreshing.

The supporting characters of Jude and Henry, who although honestly deserved to be in the book more, were just so amazing when they were in the book. It’s hard for me to like supporting characters in some books because sometimes I feel like they serve no purpose in some stories, but with Jude and Henry, I never felt that way. I mean, Jude, calling Gabe when Dylan fell? That sneaky shit made me love him more for that!

The plot of the story was both different and cliché in the whole boss-and-assistant story trope. I loved the way the relationship between the characters developed and how it wasn’t an instant love situation. I also just liked how the whole story unfolded. There were very few moments where I thought “Why on earth is this part here, it serves no real purpose.” And I think that’s because everything in this story, from the writing to the actual flow just fit together so fluidly that it made for a highly immersive and enjoyable read. I don’t think I could put this book down at all.

This might be one of my new favorite books, and it definitely a book I will read again in the future. I will be reading more by this author because honestly if all her books are this entertaining and snarky I think she might be one of my new favorite people. I can’t even express my love for this book, which is why all I can say is that if you haven’t read it yet then do yourself a favor and lose yourself in these pages today already.

This book hit all my like buttons. I loved it from the first.

I probably shouldn't of fallen for Gabe so fast but despite his outward demeanor I fell hook line and sinker.

Dylan was a sweety. From the start I loved him, my heart broke for him at times but inside I was screaming at him to not give up.

The little memos at the start of each chapter were delightful. I loved the snark between these two.

Now for the shocker, those that read my ramblings know I dislike on page sex. It does nothing but waylay the story in my opinion. But there are very rare exceptions and this was one of those times. Mostly it was the sexual chemistry when they first come together. The kisses were hot hot hot. The first sex scene I actually read without skimming which is damn rare for me, although I have to admit I skipped the last one. You can have too much of a good thing lol.

Overall this was a great read for me. It did remind me of my old Mills and Boon days but I think that's what I loved, the old trope but with two guys instead of the MF I dieted on for so long.

I didn’t expect much and I have never read this author but this was a nice story. I will definitely check out other books. Not sure I want to read the next one as the description sounds annoying, so maybe this will be their HEA for me.
