Decent.

It's a better take on the "barbarian kidnaps human post resonance" than whatever the hell Barbarian Alien was. Still on the same level though because although the relationship does feel better than Barbarian Alien, it still fell very flat IMO.

Also, the timeline in general just feels so meh. During this book, Harlow meets Rukh, they Mate, they fall pregnant, they give birth, get the khui, and have their happily ever after. I don't know how I feel about this. It's too condensed to be less than 200 words.

Also a long-lost brothers trope, which I, again, don't know how to feel about.

What It’s About: This book reveals what happened to Harlow at the end of the previous volume after she didn’t come back and details her adventures with Rukh, an alien the others thought died long ago.

Spice Level: It may be cold on the ice planet, but the sex is always hot. I’m not sure the sex in this one is hotter than the others, but I like it more because Harlow and Rukh are my favorite couple.

Realism: This particular plot brings in the idea of (mis)communication and isolation even more than the others. Rukh barely knows the alien language, so even though Harlow speaks it, they have to work much harder to talk to each other, and their fear keeping them away from the others is very understandable, especially considering the circumstances. Overall, I just love how Ruby brings tough themes into these fantastical stories and deals with them well. It also showcases the powers of the khui a bit more. I was shocked at how much it could do when I read it!

Trigger Warnings: There’s some pretty intense kidnapping going on, brief mentions of a terminal illness, and a difficult pregnancy.

Every time a character uses a piece of leather for something that requires absorbent fabric I want to scream. This book has a 1 year time skip, which is a good thing under the circumstances. The leading man is Tarzan-y and only knows the word "No" in the beginning. He starts by hitting Harlow over the head and kind of kidnaps her, but she gets onboard fairly quickly. This book has lots of fingering, some oral, and some p in v sex.

Ehhh I don't know; I think this has been my least favorite so far for some reason. I still enjoyed it, but I feel like the storylines are getting repetitive & not that there's anything wrong with Harlow or Rukh but I just didn't like them quite as well. Could just be that Kira & Aehako's story was a hard one to follow.

Ice Barbarian Tarzan

This Harlow/Rukh pairing is interesting because in some ways it feels like a back step in terms of human/sakh relations. Ruhk is feral left alone since he was a child so does not have any sense of interpersonal relationship skills or communication. Through this perspective the audience learns more about the planet the humans call "Not-Hoth" and survival. The story is again steamy and compelling with more characters that are interesting and individual. The audience continues to get glimpses of little bits of Harlow's past as well as Rukh's and the narration continues to be great. As mentioned before my only gripe is that Hollie in trying to make voices distinct seems to struggle to match emotional inflection, interestingly she does this well for male voices just not the female voices. Mason is excellent as always. The spicy scenes continue to be very spicy and added to the repertoire of Ruby Dixon's variety of scenes pregnancy sex is added to the list. I also appreciate the glimpses of the rapidly changing community that is occurring since the arrival of the group of humans to the Sakh tribe. I continue to devour these audibles at a rapid pace and went to the author's website to follow the reading order and have been listening to the little short honeymoon stories after volume 1, 2, 3, and now 4. The collection of them are also available on audible called Ice Planet Honeymoon. After this volume the next in the reading order is Ice Planet Holiday before going into Barbarian's Prize.
