Hard to put the book down, though I found the ending a little anticlimactic.

Best of the Harry Bosch series so far. Great interplay between Edgar and Harry, a haunting mystery, and surprise twists. Good stuff!

I can see why this was the first series inspiration, on the TV show. This was a fast, fun and funky book. The funk comes from the atmosphere that Bosch operates within. Very grimy and crisp. It is certainly not clean or clear. Even knowing the outcome, or at least a possible outcome, this book was fun and enjoyable.

This is the first Michael Connelly book I've read and I definitely look forward to reading more.
It really enjoyed the pace and realism employed. It felt like it could really happen in real life. The crime was sad and difficult to solve and it didn't have a neat ending that could be wrapped up simply like many other mysteries.
Since I started towards the middle/end of the series (I don't know how many more follow), I would really like to go back to book 1 and see how Harry Bosch got to this point. It's a stand alone book but left me wondering about his past so I definitely need to get my hands on some of the earlier books to understand some of the references to what happened before.
Definitely recommend if you like cop mysteries, especially realistic ones.
