I just want to state for the record that I want Vestara to have a redemption arc to counteract Jacen's fall....otherwise, interesting installment!

Don't remember reading the third book in this series -- in fact it's on my "To Read' list, but the events in this novel, so far, feel familiar as a continuing story..so perhaps I did read the third novel. Getting old is hard.
Enjoying it so far...like putting on an old friend.

Post read -
Exactly what you'd want and expect from a SW novel. Nothing too deep, character development follows lines from first 3 novels in the series. Open ending and a big battle to close out the book.

Not great, but not bad either. I think I preferred the last novel because it broke new ground in the whole Force mythos and philosophy department as well as provided some heart-warming scenes with older characters. This novel reads like survival fiction. Luke and the crew are trapped on Dathomir with a loose Sith threatening to uncover the secrets to an ancient dark power and the Witches of Dathomir themselves threatening Luke and his progeny because of his history with the planet of Force sensitives. Altogether, a pretty shallow story with the usual devices of the Expanded Universe. I expected this novel to be a bit more personal as it narrowed the scope of the epic to focus on one planet as most of the main characters crossed paths for the first time. In the end, it felt like no such effort was made. Any potentially large plot-twists seem like mundane and expected developments rather than galaxy-altering events - bungled assassinations, political compromising and a marriage alliance among feuding tribes that we are made to care nothing about. Ho hum. On to the next!

Keeps a little too closely to the formula. But it's pretty good nonetheless.

Reading this series for the first time and this is the slowest of them all so far. Dragged at a lot of parts

This one felt like a long side story for Luke and Ben. Their main mission of retracing Jacen’s steps was completely abandoned for the most part.

I quite enjoyed this book, all the twists and turns. Also the siege was interesting. Especially since the other book I'm reading is about Siege warfare.

I was hesitant about the series at first, but I've quite enjoyed the last couple books.

This volume of Fate of the Jedi picks up right where ABYSS left off. Most of the action takes place on Dathomir, and we actually get the whole gang (Leia, Luke, Han) together again. Despite that (I love me a good Dathomir story), this installment wasn't as page-turney as the first three, and it didn't have enough Jaina for my tastes (but then, there's never enough Jaina for my tastes, so...). That's not a comment on Aaron Allston's writing in any way, the plot just wasn't as gripping, at least not until the end. I did really enjoy the interaction between Ben and Vestara Khai, and I hope that carries on throughout the series. As always, the audio book production values are excellent.
