Interesting to hear Simu’s story, and particularly his insights into the immigrant journey and importance of representation in media.

Knowing little of his story, was saddened to hear of the experiences of abuse he suffered as a child, and applaud his openness about challenging topics, which may help others seek help.

I am a fan of Simu and enjoyed reading about his life. He was funny even though he discussed tough moments in his life. He talks about being born in China and growing up in Canada. He discusses the way Asian's are portraited in western film.

This man is so charismatic I have absolutely no trouble believing he talked his way through business school and into a consulting job he didn't even really want. Audiobook recommended.

I’ve been a fan of Simu for a number of years, starting with Kim’s Convenience. I was excited to read this memoir and was left feeling somewhat disappointed.

I found his tone pretty whiny and self-involved and I didn’t have much empathy for him once he got to college. The book also felt repetitive in terms of how often he talked about how much he hated accounting as how hard he worked at being an actor and what a go-getter he was.

I think this memoir actually made me like him less, which was surprising. That’s obviously my personal opinion and ymmv. I do think that it’s important that this memoir exists and even though I wasn’t really a fan, I’m sure it will resonate with many.
