A Wilder family bonanza if there ever was one! I loved Half a Soul, and this book was a more direct sequel to the story of the Wilders. While the first book of the Regency Faerie Tales dealt with Dora and Elias, this third installment follows Abigail Wilder, Elias and Dora's adopted daughter, as she tries to solve the murders of three Society ladies.

The book was a mixture of Bridgerton and Howl's Moving Castle, with the wholesome queer relationship to boot. I actually was not expecting the sapphic relationship up until we meet Mercy, but I will say that Abigail and Mercy are absolutely adorable. I had my suspicions about the reveal regarding Longshadow, but I was still fairly surprised by how it fully played out.

Overall, really enjoyed this, and I'm kind of sad I blitzed through the last two Regency Faerie Tales stories (though I think there's a fourth taking place in the same world? Just not the same timeline...). Highlight of the book? Hands down Dora just being savage and Elias being...well, exceedingly cranky but I still love the Lord Sorcier anyway. Now I kind of want to reread Half a Soul again. And the short stories involving a particular Lord Sorcier.

Thank you to NetGalley and Orbit for this eARC. All thoughts are my own.

After reading and loving Half a Soul, I had to read the other books in the series. Longshadow has a crossover of characters that we got to meet and fall for in the previous two books, and this stories focuses on Abigail Wilder, daughter of Lord Sorcier and Dora. Like her parents, she's intrepid, has a knack for adventures and avoids the ton. After all, the ton never accepted her, and Abigail stopped caring. However, when young noble ladies start dying mysteriously, Abigail starts investigating and bumps head with a strange woman, Mercy. Abigail doesn't know if she can trust her, but she needs her help in solving the mystery and capturing the murderer.

To say that I was shocked by the plot twist about Mercy is an understatement. I wasn't expecting it all. But it made so much sense when I started rethinking about it, and all I have to say is well done Olivia Atwater. Not much can usually surprise me.

Is it too early to ask the book 4 now? I can't get enough of this series.
