I loved this story! After I learned that this was one of J. K. Rowling's favorite books as a child it went to the top of my TBR. Luckily, I found a copy at the library book sale and purchased it and read it almost right away.
It reminded my of A Little Princess and The Secret Garden, except that this story is definitely fantastical. I adored the storyline, the beautiful descriptions, animal friends, and charming home and country. There are definite Christian themes to the story that are reminiscent of The Chronicles of Narnia and A Wrinkle in Time.

Můj názor: Tahle kniha se mi moc líbila. Byla totiž taková milá, přátelská...možná se v ní hodně popisovalo krajiny a květiny, ale prostě, autorka to vyprávěla z takovou radostí, že z knihy doslova sršel život a láska. Nemohu si pomoci, je o jedna z mých oblíbených knih. Možná proto, že končí šťastným koncem. Možná bych knize jen vytkla, že všechna odhalení a tajemství se vyjevila na konci, hlavní postava to pořád odkládala :)
Doporučuji tuto knihu všem a všem :)

This is such a charming book! I read and savored it slowly, as Goudge’s writing is so descriptive that I often felt the need to stop and digest what I had just read. Perfect spring read.
