4.25 Stars - I had read Aaron and Spencer some time ago and, in fact, hadn’t realized that this book was part of the series when it was released under its original name of Painting Fire on the Air. I when I read the blurb, I was like “Ben? Who is Ben and why do I care about him?” Well, this book tells you why. It shows how far reaching violence is and how something that never happened to someone can have such a profound effect on them.

Ben is broken by his sister’s murder. He has found a way to cope with BDSM but he is not whole yet. Jude knows nothing of BDSM but wants so much for Ben.

This is a story of hurt and comfort, of stretching your boundaries, of putting others first. I didn’t find it as traumatising as Aaron or Spencer. I didn’t feel quite as much for Ben as I did for the other two in their stories. I wasn’t moved to tears. However, I did love his journey and I loved Jude.

The BDSM was well done and hot even as it tackled Ben’s demons. Descriptions of Jude’s life outside Ben helped keep him real and rounded out the story.

Definitely worth the read.

The first book of the Survivor Stories "Aaron" and the Little Boy Lost series by J.P. Barnaby started my MM romance reading adventure. I've read a lot over the last year in this genre. Some really good books and others I don't like that much.
But reading a new J.P. books feels like coming home. I really love her writing and the way she makes those wonderful characters come alive with her words.

Great story about healing, love and trust. And I've learned a lot about BDSM.

J.P. Barnaby is one of my favourite authors. She is one that I know will never disappoint. Her stories are solid and exceptionally well told. Her characters have the ability to grab hold of my heart and they never let go! My heart still bleeds when I think of Ethan and Aaron... So I'll admit I was a little scared to start this one.

But this book is different. Definitely no less impact than the others, but in a different manner. While it still carries the emotional punch that I've come to expect, it wasn't such a huge rollercoaster rolling from one angst filled moment to the next. This one seemed more even, more balanced. The depth of emotion is still there, but I felt I had room to breathe amongst the angst.

Honestly, I'm having a great deal of trouble saying how this book made me feel. I'm struggling to find the words, so let me just say this: J.P., I don't know how you do it, but please keep doing it!

I was pumping my fist in the air, cheering for Jude. This book has it all, you guys. There are uber-hot motorcycle men, strong Doms and beautiful submissives, all surrounding a wonderful love story.

Don’t miss this one you might find yourself asking for a flogging if you do!
