"Now I understand that true idiots are the ones who are certain they have all the answers. It is never that simple."

I'm trying to slowly make my way through Harlan Coben's backlist, and I have a lot of his books currently hanging out on my TBR. I had one physical copy left that has been lingering on my shelves since 2019 (whoops!), and I decided to pick it up on a whim when I wanted to change things up and have a 'real' book in my hands. Missing You has without doubt an interesting premise with the mystery around the main character Kat's ex, the doubts surrounding her father's murder and a strange case in the present. With Kat being a detective, this story does have a detective thriller vibe... Although she isn't investigating the present case in a official capacity and doesn't really play by the rules, which spices things up considerably. There are a lot of different angles to consider in Missing You, and there are quite a few different POVs along the way; some you won't properly understand until the final part where all the connections are revealed. These 'mystery' POVs slowed down the pace a little, but where still intriguing enough to keep reading... Especially since you could already kind of guess the general picture of what was going on. I never guessed the full truth though, which was mainly thanks to quite a few unexpected and big plot twists being thrown at you along the way. Things can be said about the credibility of certain aspects of the plot, but then again this is often the case with his books. I personally didn't mind, as I was too busy trying to figure out how everything connected... Highly entertaining, suspenseful and quite dark in parts; a successful crime thriller indeed, and I'm already looking forward to the next dose of Harlan Coben
