Tara's story was so inspiring and I admire her courage in opening herself up in such an intimate and personal way. She persevered against all odds and went from receiving almost zero education to receiving a scholarship to attend Cambridge! And not only that, but her memoir tells of her brilliant journey of going from accepting the truth that was presented to her by her father, to educating herself and learning the truth for herself. I would recommend this book to everyone!

wow. this was so good. it'll stick with me for a while. the way it's written is incredible, you feel so connected to the narrator and the characters, i could see it all so vividly, and had to keep stepping back to remember this was real. it was so thought provoking also, fascinating to hear about a life so displaced from my own. i would completely recommend this, although the slightly graphic moments would have to be a pass. i really loved it though!

Wow, the things Tara went through were heartbreaking. I can't believe she grew up that way. This book dealt with mental health, abuse, family drama etc. I thought her determination to keep learning more even though she went most of her childhood barely learning anything is inspiring. She had a lot of will power to keep going despite her struggles. I received this copy from netgalley for a honest review. Thank you Netgalley and Random House Publishing.
