The new emperor has been chosen, and things get messy as hell. Some characters are ruined, some are freer than ever before. We learn more about the otherworldly dark forces lingering in the empire, which was pretty cool honestly. There are insane and borderline ridiculous plot twists that I absolutely love. This book feels unhinged in a hinged way, chaotic in an organized way. I love it.

Rated 3 stars because I didn't give a crap about anything that happened in this book until like page 350. I'll probably keep going because the stuff towards the end was interesting enough but this series is definitely not a priority for me.

The first third of this book was a little slow, but the ending more than made up for it. I loved getting Helene’s POV and she has become one of my favorite characters in the series. Can’t wait to finish the series!
