Here is where the series starts to lose some of it's focus and engagement.

The series is simply getting too dark and grim for my tastes. Reading synopses of later books confirmed that it gets blacker and bleaker from here in, so there's no point in my continuing.

One of the few series set in the States that I really enjoy. Flynn writes with passion and humour that is most entertaining. It took me a long time (for me) to read this because I started the kindle book and I don’t have much time to sit and read, then the audiobook came out just before I finished it. Phew! I ❣️ Riot, and Miss Bel. May there be many more, complete with their irregulars and Ravenwood Detective Agency.

Fantastic job weaving the 4 books together. Very satisfying conclusion.

That was an immensely satisfying series, with two leads that were both flawed & full of heart, & a school of side characters who stole your heart just as much as the MCs did. I also loved getting to know the twists & turns of turn-of-the-20th-century San Francisco — the historical aspects were just as engaging as the murdery, suspenseful plot. A great read if you’re in the mood for great characters, excellent world-building, & dark plots.
