This guy is Pinocchio. He starts the book with a total of five feelings ever in his life and treating people like they're property, then suddenly he's a real boy? All because he unwittingly falls in love even though he doesn't know what love is? Sorry, but no. Is a shame that Cassandra is so sweet because she deserves better than this guy.

2 stars. I can’t say I absolutely loathed this book (loathing is worth a 1 star review), but it was objectively truly very bad, so it’s a 2 star review.

I enjoyed this. And it feels nice to see how earlier books weave into this one.

I sense the author tries to reflect neurodivergent traits in the MMC.

Glad we didn’t have melodrama or bedridden patients. The brief episode of a fight and head injury was enjoy. It doesn’t really dwell on the underlying story of a man enslaving children to his profit.

I really liked the original series. I think by the end of this generation it was too much and I needed a break from this world

I loved this book! Initially, I thought it would rival with Devil in Spring in my all-time top 10 favorites, but towards the middle I found it lacking a bit in comparison.

I loved the idea of Tom being “incapable” of having emotions, and I liked how we got to see Cassandra’s feelings in comparison to Pandora. In Devil in Spring, it would seem that Cassandra was adored by many because she was “perfect” and here, I enjoyed reading that she found herself dull because Pandora was quirky.

I loved Bazzle. His inclusion in the story was my favorite part, I loved how he became a part of Tom’s life after all.

I wish the problem/conflict here was extended more. I wish it wasn’t as easily resolved, but it’s okay, I can live with it. I didn’t like the dock area scene, it felt out of place and I think the book would’ve still been the same without it.

One thing I’ll say that I think should’ve been in Devil in Spring was how the intimate scenes in this book was written. Since Gabriel was said to have a darker and wild side in matters of the bedroom, it should’ve been similar to how Tom was with Cassandra. In comparison, Gabriel’s intimacy tendencies felt light.

Anyway, I still love this book and I’m glad to have read it. After this, I can’t deny that I’m such a big fan of Lisa Kleypas.
