I enjoyed this book better than the last one of the series. The dynamic of this couple was frustrating. He basically just stalked her and refused to get close to her. And she spent years pining for him. They hook up like one time finally and then he disappears again for years. I felt like the years long break was too much. I know in the story he was like kidnapped and he couldn’t come back, but that was just really disappointing especially with them having a kid together. He missed a lot of that child’s life and she had to raise this child with her really crappy new husband. I just didn’t love all that, but it did have a nice ending so that’s good.

Kind of wattpady but very interesting nonetheless. I do feel it was quite a bit rushed though, like it could've been made into a much longer book that would have given us a deeper connection to the characters.

Also the ending was actually hilarious

Books set primarily in the past then flip to the present don't usually work for me which is why I've been pushing this book off, but I'm glad I finally started. This was super cute and I love them as a couple even they spent more time apart than together. I wish there was more conflict between them or learning to be together after a 5 year separation, but I think that is my only complaint.

I'm looking forward to Massimo and Zara's story!

This book would be a 6 āļø read if I could do it!!! Favorite book thus far and Kai is my main man!!!

I've finished three Neva Altaj dark romance books now, dnf-ed the rest, and it's safe to say they're a tad too cheesy for me.

mmc raised to be a killer meets a veterenarian mafia princess who rescues him after a job gone wrong. he's a touch starved, tortured hero, who has a bit of the born sexy yesterday trope.

65% of the story takes place in the past and the present timeline is rushed.

A hitman with an obsession with a mafia princess/aspiring vet considers
quitting his job, only to realize he accidentally assassinated her father. Years later, he comes back to find that she’s married and has a daughter who has his eyes.
Super corny, even from this series, but exactly what I needed during a transition in my life.
