4.5 - Yet another wonderful read from Aja James.

"Love was not something you beat into submission, or capture when it wasn't yours. It was not something you could make others feel. It wasn't even something you could win.
Love was something every living being with a soul could give, but it wasn't something anyone could take or steal."

I adore Goya and Maddie. Goya's descriptive terms for Maddie had me laughing out loud. Maddie has the best of friends in
Mike and Yas, I look forward to hopefully seeing them again. Maddie's ex and her family are deplorable though. I hope we get a glimpse into their lives later on as there were a couple of unresolved items for me.

Pure Magnetism gave me a bunch of people to hate. Seriously, so freaking many people deserve a good bitch slap from me. Yes, I'm looking at the ex-husband, the older sister, the coworker, and the parents to top it all off. I can't wait for my girl Karma to come visit you all.

Now besides those little twatwaffles, I absolutely adored Goya and Maddie. I mean Maddie really deserved someone nice and protective in her life. Hot damn! So when the silent mysterious guy runs into her life - I was there for it all. Each and every sexual tension/teasing filled moment was devoured by me. I loved it all and basically screamed at my computer when I got to certain scenes.

All I'm going to say is that I am one happy girl with this book. Especially with the ending being a little cherry on top. I freaked out for a minute or two because they can now communicate! I'm wondering if Logan will somehow be able to hear Goya in his head? Maybe? I think that would be super cool if he could. Just saying.

Oh! Before I forget.. that little hydra moment and kiss between Medusa and Dalair was gross and interesting. The hydra part not the kiss. That still grosses me out. I'm not sure why Dalair is still there and didn't silently walk out of that crazy lair but I'm sure he has his reasons. The hydra better not try to kiss him again. Or anything else. I will riot if something happens.

4 and a bit stars.......

Goya's story i had been anticipating nearly as much as Daliar's, the beautiful majestic tiger king......

Goya was beautifully written, his innocence yet his wisdom his vulnerability yet his knowledge, Aja had him scaled to a T.....

Loved reading how he tries to overcome his fears, it was interesting to see how clueless he was in certain aspects.....

Unfortunately although still one of my fave series, this has to be my least fave book I love the shifter aspect But wasn't overly keen on the background and some characters, i love when Aja injects a bit of lore into each of her books, this had more of a Modern feel to it.

But oh my Ramses... that character has become very interesting i wonder what side he will fall on....

And Dalair... Just wish i could jump in the pages and hug him.....

Wow ... this book was unexpected. I've been so invested in the Pure/Dark races ... I wasn't exactly sure how I felt about the new developments that showed up in Maximus' book. I love reading series in general, so expanding the the world building, and adding new elements are expected ... but I wasn't quite sure what to expect from Goya.

Turns out, this may be one of my favorites in the series so far. Goya says SO MUCH ... without uttering a single word. ... sigh ... Maddie's chatter more than makes up for it.

Maddie starts the book of in turmoil, and sort of just keeps rolling with things. Their connection sizzles from the get go. I loved everything about this book. The couple, her son, her friends, and situations Maddie finds herself in. She just deals. There's a few hiccups she has to get through, and Goya's past makes it hard for him at times. So many feels in this book.

I laughed and cried at the end of this book. What a super awesome couple. Oh, there's a pretty major plot bomb at the end too.

Introduction
Pure Magnetism is the 9th installment in the "Pure Dark Ones" series and this story is about the infamous Goya, whom we got introduced to in book 8. He is the powerful alpha character that is such a mystery and we did get some of his story in the previous book. I do recommend reading at least this series in order, to get the full comprehension of the world building. But at least read the previous book before reading this one. I truly had such a blast with this book, seeing Goya get his book and find a mate was so worth the wait. I adored his character and it was such a joy to see him in his prime in this one even if it was a bit different than I expected it to be.

The Main Protagonists
Goya
-Tiger Shifter
-Royalty
-Immortal being
-Alpha Male

Maddie: (Heroine's Name)
-Single Parent of a teenage son
-Workaholic
-Divorced

Summary
Our tale begins when Goya is injured and is forced into the human form and not his animal form. He manages somehow to find a construction job and a cash only paid one. Then we have our heroine who lives close by to his work job, and they have an instant connection, and she convinces him to come to her home so that she can feed him. He isn't the most presentable and through a set of events with the help of Maddie and her son, they show him the ropes of being human and the daily rituals of hygiene. There is an instant connection between Goya and Maddie, he knows that they are mates, but with there being a language barrier, it takes a while for a deeper connection to form but Maddie will have to be the one to fight for the man and beast she loves...

My Outlook
There was something so different about this installment. I truly had a fun time with this one. And while it didn't quite meet up to my expectations, I had such a wonderful time with it. It was so satisfying seeing Goya get his story. I found the language barrier aspect to the relationship to be quite interesting. It definitely added some conflict to their relationship as they have to learn each other. Its a good thing Maddie is a talker haha but in some ways she is able to sense what he is communicating even at the very beginning. We do have some groveling aspects that is for the heroine to do. This was actually one of my favorite aspects to the story though. The way that she hurts him (which I won't reveal) but she does and she needs to earn back his trust and I actually enjoyed seeing a heroine have to be the one to work in the relationship. And man that ending, while I wish there was an epilogue with them together, I have a feeling we will see more of them in future books. Definitely eager to see what the author has planned for the rest of the books in the series as I can sense its just beginning....

Overall View
Pure Magnetism was a magical romance that was entrancing in its small moments, captivates the reader from the beginning, and portrays the value of trust in a beautifully woven romance!

This book had a rom-com feel which was unexpected. It was hilarious really. It was a nice (and necessary i think) change from the darkness of the previous few books. I loved Maddie and her gals and hope to see more of them in the near future. Goya was amazing and i loved the fact that he couldn't speak or write a word but could communicate so well with Maddie. Also the fact that he could set Logan straight with a look.

My only complain is that we didn't get any Goya/Maximus interaction and also i felt that the ending was a bit rushed. Otherwise, another great addition in this addictive series.
