challenging informative slow-paced

This wasn't the book that I thought it would be and as a result, was much harder than I thought. I did finish it though because there is a lot of great information embedded in it - but the overall concept was written in very dense, academic phrasing and I feel as thought I didn't exactly grasp everything the author was trying to get across. I felt like I should be reading this for a graduate level sociology course in order to really understand. It's certainly not a bad book by any means, just not one written for laymen and thus not all that accessible outside of the circles of academia that focus on subjects & concepts as these.
