So many great elements, but it does not work for me. It is too long, too slow, too focused on meaningless details. The core mystery was interesting, but the revelation underwhelming. 

There were a few characters I really enjoyed, all the aunties and little Heidi. Most characters lack depth and come across as stereotypes. Main character is dumb.

There was potential here and I can almost see why so many people seem to love this one. But not quite.

I haven't written a review for this yet because I felt words couldn't do it justice.  It's been months and I still don't know how to write a cohesive review, but this story just keeps growing in my heart.  I already can't wait to re-read it.

This book hurt my heart in the best of ways; if I had to sum it up, I'd say the books is about navigating grief, and boy, did I feel it. Beautifully done.
