One of those books that really is "a delightful romp" - just so juicy and fun, I didn't want to put it down. Ready for TV, with chapters dedicated to each dramatic husband. The wraparound plot was less enthralling but ha enough mystery sewn in to keep you interested there too. And of course, there's the fun Hollywood glamour throughout!

I could say with almost no hesitation that this is my favourite book I've ever read. It's the kind of book that makes you never want to read anything else because nothing could be as good.

It was not at all what I expected. Evelyn Hugo is a deeply complex person who feels relatable, even if you can relate to almost nothing she's talking about. Taylor Jenkins Reid has expertly created characters who truly felt real to me. I would recommend this book to everyone and anyone because I have not felt as strongly about any character in a very long time.

This book is outstanding.

Upon finishing this book for the second time, I will say I love it even more now that I did the first time around. I cried more than I have at any other book and regularly have to pause reading because it is so, so painful. And yet, I've never read anything more beautifully well-written in my whole life. Please read this book.

Came for the hype, stayed for the queer love stories. Yes, stories plural! The only reason I didn’t give this a 5 was that the connection between Evelyn and Monique was a little too predictable.

It is a decent book meant to be a biography-ish thing so it is reasonably draggy and muted and stagnant where it has to be. The main character can feel shoehorned in at times when you're enthralled with Evelyn Hugo's story, but I get that a vessel is needed to tell the story.

I went into this not knowing that it was
Sapphic so Imagine my shock when they kissed lmao. Honestly the Evelyn and Celia are cute in a mature old-people romance way, I was rooting for them through all the angst and miscommunications. The book also covers some of the stuff celebrities in the past had to deal with like addiction and keeping in the closet, pretty cool. Showing her life in the news vs how it was recounted by her , the truth, was refreshing and fun to read.

This book did not shatter my soul and make me rethink life but it was a chill, sweet read.
