I loved coming back to this world 😩 I seriously think Seanan could write 10 of these books in a series and I wouldn’t get tired of reading them. Especially if she keeps with the formula of one novel at the wayward house and one novel as a backstory. I can’t wait to read book 3! I just love how she juxtaposes real life issues (parenting, sexuality, gender identity etc) with these fantastical worlds. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I so enjoyed my time at the Moors with Jack and Jill. as much as you can enjoy a vampire story that heavily focuses on grooming and really heavy themes.

I liked that we didn’t get a lot about the ‘master’ and that he was more so an ominous presence in the background but we still saw his effects on the characters, setting, and outcomes of the story.

the writing in this one felt improved and so dreamlike, as I was reading I truly felt hypnotized to keep reading and with the stories being so short you can find yourself at the end before you realize which in its own way reflects the story and abrupt endings and how as an adult you don’t have a lot of control over when things end for you.
