The happiest of endings…..nothing like winning an argument by convincing everyone that mothers are simply a vessel and not related to the flipping kid. Clytemnestra you raised your son well…..

thinking about the person on tumblr who said the only way to play this apollo is like a sleazy defense attorney completely winging the case. life changing. (review of the full oresteia here)

Much better upon re-reading as an old man. Poetry more accessible read than viewed on stage.

3.5 to 4 stars
This is a fairly okay read. There are actually a lot of improvements compared to the two first parts of Orestia.
First, the tone completely changes, as does the setting. I appreciated the court/judgement here. I also enjoyed some hypocrisies being finally pointed out.
It is to be noted that the reason why the crime of Clytemnestre is deemed worst than the other crimes is adressed (because of the vows uniting husband and wife which are protected by Hera & Zeus). This was a satisfying answer which goes very much in line with the religious belief.
The only thing I was disappointed about : once again the issue of Agamemnon burning alive his daughter is not adressed although this is the motivation behind Clytemnestre's murder.
On the positive side, I very much enjoyed how Eschyle was able to give such distinct personalities to Athena and Appollo. That was a nice surprise.
It was an okay to good read.

If only I'd read this yesterday... as it would've helped with my argument for my Greek mythology essay. Just a day late.
