Damn. That hit me in the trauma. Katee Robert does it again. I had to take breaks with this one. It hit way too close to home with the shame and religious trauma. She does a good job of exploring complex sexual traumas in this Deal with a Demon series in a way that feels healing. That plus smut? Amazing.

This book tried to lean into religious guilt. Sure! That's why everybody likes sexy priests and I can certainly think of some great bdsm scenes on that themes. What I'm saying is, I don't object to the idea of overcoming religious guilt as a theme for an erotica book. But it was so, painfully, over-written. I could have removed three out of four paragraphs and still known what was going on. And it wasn't entertaining over-writing. It was just boring, and a little concerning. It was never sexy, or funny, because the whole time, I felt like I could see behind the curtain. This one was a miss.

Katee Robert once again delivered a fun and sexy monster romance but threw in an (un)healthy dose of religious trauma into the mix. We all know that if Katee writes it, I am reading it, and with every new book they release, it just solidifies that for me. This sapphic romance also had a bit of gender fluidity with our monster mmc and boy was that a TREAT. A fiery phallus might not sound sexy, but just you wait. Also, a vibrating cl*t…. 👀 please go check this one out, you won’t regret it.
