I love the idea, collaboration and underlying story to this novella. All of those elements really impacted me and was so beautiful both in concept and visuals. All the visuals in the novella were also super enjoyable and I really enjoyed all the feelings it evoked. Also just the concept of the novella itself and the remembering and that mechanism was all very beautiful.

My main negative was I felt like it was too short / tried to do too much in the amount of space it had. I think cramming at least three separate storylines were too many and I would have preferred something more streamlined. I found transitions and realisations to swift even though I enjoyed where we were and where we ended up.

There are many interesting elements such as the collective memory and the author drew me into the emotional aspect of the story very well. The story itself was too meandering for me though.

I love the story concept and the lineage/collaboration that produced it, but I found the actual novella a little underwhelming. I’m not sure why, but I just found it hard to engage with the characters. I’ve heard good things about Rivers Solomon, though, so I want to check out more of their work.
