Albertalli is readable and entertaining. Glad to find out more about Leah who originated in Simon's book. Read it in 2 stages, one before and one after a week-long vacation, because I didn't want to risk taking a library book on the road; otherwise I would have finished it in one day, like Simon.
this book is actually just a compilation of every delusional daydream I ever had in high school

i think i'm rating this a 3.5
ok ok so i really really liked this and i love all of the characters and the romance was adorable
but there was one scene that i really didn't like and from reading reviews it seems other people were also upset by this and UGH i'm mad because everything else was so good :((((

I adored “Love, Simon” and thinking of this book as a part 2 follow-up or a stand alone it’s still not 4-stars for me. It was fun and I enjoyed spending time with these teens again but it wasn’t as heartfelt, gripping or interesting as Love Simon. It felt dragged out at times and under developed. Something was lacking there for me...
Summary: Leah hasn’t come out to her friends she’s bisexual and is in a weird situation because the girl she likes is dating one of her closest friends. Meanwhile it’s the end of senior year and prom.

"i know when i'm not wanted. i'm super used to it." godddd ik morgan eventually apologized but i could not stand her
surprised she and anna were ven part of the prom group, bc i thought they were more leah's friends and like if she was fighting with him, they would not have felt obligated to include those two
leah kept thinking telling simon is safe which is great (and ultimately was true) but she's not wrong to be scared lol being part of the same community doesn't mean you can't be biphobic, that's a huuuuge problem irl
also lmao that she thought wells was so much older and there's a seven year difference between him and her mom (i liked the bit with him getting her the purse, that was sweet)
the american girl bistro mix up was THE funniest thing in the world, garrett was an overall fun character even if leah wasn't into him
anyway i liked it!! it does make me reconsider things in the first book bc simon just assumed it was bc leah liked nick and she was jealous of abby (and it sounds like timeline was she only liked nick the year before and omg i love that she had a crush on everyone in the main friend group at some point that's so funny) so i'm like oh wait she liked abby that whole time? maybe i'm a little confused but i thought that was the period of time she barely talked to abby but it sounds like they were close until abby started dating nick or at least started flirting with him so was it like through the first half of junior year that they were properly friends? idk idk
and hey i do have to LOVE a couple comprised of two bi people and nobody trying to avoid the word all "i don't like labels" or just misdefining bisexual into something limiting (it's not! bisexual is attraction to all genders!) so i'm just glad there was no nonsense there that i see so much of in tv and books wrt bisexuality
nick really was such a dick in this like obviously he was devastated but he was just so unfair to abby and it's just like how do you not see it from her point of view when you are BARELY gonna be able to see each other for most of the year
i'd love to see this on screen but then again they made some changes in love simon that i didn't love (everyone fully ditching him when he got outed like what the fuck) AND it's not that the casting is bad but i think abby is the only one in the cast i can picture while reading like. i guess she probably wasn't described as such in the first book but i wish they had cast a fat girl to play abby, it would just be so nice to see her how she's meant to look

I really enjoyrd the book, I dont think it lived up to simon vs the homosapian agenda and I found that I didnt enjoy Leah as much as a character as I did Simon. I felt like it was a little predictable and I knew what was going to happen really early on in the story so I was never surprised. But the overall story was a really good make you feel good story with amazing diversity
