One of my favourite speakers but first time reading her non-fiction - clear sighted, funny and an original thinker. Especially good on democracy, literature and the environment.

1 star off just because some of the pieces were a bit samey - nature of the beast tho.

Read this, it will be do you good.

A solid collection of essays from one of the best living writers in the world. The academic writing did not go over my head like so many other academic style essays where my eyes start to glaze over, but in fact was so easy to read and passionate and fun! My TBR list has grown because of this book as I didn't know about some of the books she named and now because of said essays I want to read them all. Worth it for any Atwood fan and person interested in musings on literature.

As usual with collections of essays there are varying levels. In general I really enjoyed listening to this, some were incredibly interesting! The introductions to book a bit less, but it's personal opinion. My favourites are  Greeting Earthlings! and all the ones where she explores the act of writing itself.
I listened to the audiobook and some of the narrators were...less than good. I would have preferred either one voice to get used to, or the author directly for all of them.

A fantastic collection of Margaret Atwood's essays, reviews and miscellaneous writings. I absolutely loved A Writing Life and I hope that we get to read Margaret Atwood's diaries one day. Greetings, Earthlings! is also a great piece. We learn a lot about Margaret over the last twenty years or more and her commentary on humanity's trajectory is fascinating.

Like having tea with a brilliant, brutally honest aunt. Each essay made me think, many made me laugh, and as a result of reading this I now have a long list of books to read.
