"Time Traveler's Wife" is another one of those books that people either really seem to love or seem to hate.

I fall into the "really liked it" camp. I became really engrossed in the book from page 1 and couldn't put it down. A great twist on a love story!

I think that I read The Time Traveler's Wife at such a young age and so many times that the details of it are permanently etched in my brain for eternity. I can't imagine two literary characters that I love more than Henry and Claire, any settings that I love more than Chicago and Michigan, two places I am very close to. The scene where Henry takes his younger self to Field Museum is my favorite; the wonder that his younger self expresses at the birds in the drawer, the loneliness when he grows up and realizes that he is the only time traveler. The non-linear storytelling made it even more magical, when I was a teenager I often re-read to link the different times together, stitch together the different Henrys and Claires. Then years later, I read that it was somewhat a controversial book on Goodreads, there was criticism on Audrey Niffenegger's overlong prose on art and literature, oversaturated sexual scenes, predatory behavior from Henry to Claire. But I appreciated all the love for music and creative arts that Neffenegger described, I felt their love and heartbreak, I also deeply loved the difference between their ages during Henry's travels and how they interacted with each other each time. I truly cannot love a book more than I do The Time Traveler's Wife.

I finished reading this a few days ago but needed a couple days to mull over my feelings on the book. Overall, I thought it was so sweet and interesting and unique and well thought-out. The story jumps from year to year, and not always in chronological order. It follows two people that meet in his future but her past.

I thought Niffenegger did such a good job and carefully plotting the story and making it so unique at that. She began stories in the first half of the book whose endings weren't revealed until the second half of the book, much like J.K. Rowling does in the Harry Potter series.

I can't say enough good things about this book. Basically, if you haven't read it yet, order it from your library or go out and buy it and set a weekend aside to read it. It was both heart-warming and heart-breaking at the same time, and it definitely left me wanting more. I did not want this book to end! I liked how it went beyond the typical romance or chick-lit book so it was not so one-dimensional. What are you waiting for? Go read it!

Also as a side note, have you ever heard or Journeyman? It aired the year of the writer's strike and was then subsequently cancelled. Anyway, a lot of the elements from this book reminded me of that series; however, I have to say that I loved this book a whole lot more than the tv show. I hope the movie is amazing - can't wait till it comes out on dvd!

Had lots of potential to be an interesting story. Supposed to be cute and romantic, but too many clichés and spent wayyyy too long in the “beginning” with what was probably supposed to be sweet but definitely felt like child grooming to me. The sex and overly sexual writing felt like it was randomly sprinkled there just for the sake of including some sexy time.

This is an engaging love story along the lines of The Notebook. I'm glad my cousin recommended it.
